The biggest of his career!
Saitama Super Arena performance
≠ME (Not Equal Me) is a film of the 5th anniversary concert held at the Musashino Forest Sport Plaza Main Arena in March 2024. From April to July, the band held a national tour, returning to the hometowns of the members, and completed two performances at Yokohama Arena. In November, they also held an additional performance, including their second time at Makuhari Messe. We spoke to Nogizaka's Suzuki Hitomi and Kanisawa Moeko.
Suzuki: "I feel like we've been performing live shows all this year. During our triumphant tour, I felt like we were in the same class as our fans, and we were able to make all kinds of memories of our youth in all kinds of places. I was also happy that we were able to make plans to meet again each time. A lot of people who support Nogizaka46 love live shows, so I was grateful that we were able to perform so many shows."
Kanisawa: "We were able to perform in a place we'd never been to before, and all the members from our hometowns were really fired up, so we felt even more energy in our performance. Beyond that, I felt like each of us had grown a bit, and I felt like we'd discovered a new side of ourselves over the past year. We didn't just have concerts, we also had events where we could talk face-to-face, and I think this year we were able to feel the changes of the seasons together with our fans."
Having successfully completed their long-awaited two-day concert at Nippon Budokan, what kind of place is a live concert for them?
Suzuki: "It's the place where you can be the most yourself. I think that the place where idols can shine the most is on stage, and when I see the members on stage, they shine even more than usual and they all look like they're having so much fun. Everyone has such a wonderful expression that I always think, 'I wish this moment could last forever.' Also, through live performances the love between us and our fans grows, and the bonds between the members deepen through live performances. Especially once we finish a tour we become even more united, so I think live performances are very important."
Kanisawa: "I feel like it's a place that connects everything. Our hearts, the feelings of the staff, and our fans all connect into one. The time we all perform together on stage connects so many things together in a way that can't be put into words. I'm always happy and proud to be on stage with such wonderful members in a group."
Nogizaka46 has celebrated its fifth anniversary since its formation without missing a single member. It was announced that a concert commemorating the sixth anniversary of the formation will be held in February 2025 at Saitama Super Arena, the largest concert in the group's history, during the group's annual summer event, "Iko No Joy."
Kanisawa: "I happened to be listening to the announcement next to Hitomi-chan. At first I couldn't believe it, but when I saw Hitomi-chan's eyes welling up with tears, it all started to sink in. The venue is really big, so I want to be strong enough to deliver the same enthusiasm to everyone who comes."
Suzuki: "I never imagined we'd be able to perform at Saitama Super Arena for our 6th anniversary concert, so to be honest, it was quite a surprise, but I want everyone who has ever loved Nogizaka46 to come. Even if you're a little distracted by other girls right now, I won't get angry (laughs). I promise that we'll put on a stage that will make you fall in love with us all over again, now that we've grown, and I want to work as hard as I can so that you'll want to continue walking with us."
