[Interview] Yui Niitsu
I want to spend precious time with you one-on-one.
"Hey, Look, the Stars are Beautiful Tonight" is an impressive song with a light sound that makes you want to sing along. "Kienai Mono ~Andromeda kara Tsuzuku Kiseki~" is a magnificent ballad about the miracle of a human encounter. Singer-songwriter Yui Niitsu has released songs with different melodies and colors for three consecutive months since January 2019, including the medium ballad "Nanohana" which describes the feelings of a woman who has decided to step on a new path.
"The tones and melodies that ring in my head have many variations, and in this day and age, people can listen to songs on their own, so I wondered how people would see my worldview if I cut out the various sides of Yui Niitsu, and so I took on the new challenge of releasing a series of digital releases."
On (Wed) May 29th, she will release her first mini album "Maru to Sankaku," which includes these three songs as well as the new songs "Shunwa Keimei" and "Chacha." As listeners listen to her delicate singing voice, which carries a consistent message across a variety of tunes, they will surely find their hearts slowly opened.
"Living on a round earth under the constellation of the triangle, we live with many invisible, shapeless emotions. When I look inside myself, I always feel sadness inside, but it's not something pessimistic. The reason we feel sad or lonely is because we desperately want to connect with someone. And because we know that nothing lasts forever, we want to live "the present" to the fullest. That's the message I want to convey through my music."
Wishing to "sing songs as they are," she will hold a live concert titled "Ethereal Pop 2019 ~○ and △ Concert~" at TOKYO FM HALL on (Fri), June 21st and at Banana Hall in Umeda, Osaka on (Thu), June 27th.
"Looking at a starry sky can make you cry even though you're not sad, or seeing the vast ocean can make you feel strangely at ease. I think humans have sensors that allow them to sense things that aren't just the five senses. If we can create a live performance space that feels like you're in contact with nature, there will surely be a moment when we can hold hands in a primitive way, transcending age and gender. I want to bare my heart, face each other one-on-one, and spend that precious time with you all that only exists on that day."
